Customise your Jewellery with In-House Laser Engraving

Clayfield Jewellery Proudly offers Laser Engraving

We are proud to announce we can engrave your items in our Clayfield store. Whether it’s polished rocks or floor tiles, metal tags, compliance plates & plaques for industrial applications, plastic tags and panels for the electrical installations or marking for the Promotional Goods Industry.

We can engrave stainless steel, anodised aluminium tags, labels, control panels and nameplates.

Marking occasions is important. But sometimes you need something a little more long-live than a card or a sticker. Engraving is the perfect solution for all items; from trophies to precious coming-of-age gifts.

Laser engraving can be used on many different surface types. The most common items presented for laser engraving are jewellery such as watches or pendants, metal tags, medals and trophies, and plaques and nameplates.

It is important to understand that there is a difference between laser engraving and etching.

Engraving cuts a cavity into the item being engraved. This cavity is the engraved text or image and can be felt as well as seen. Etching is merely scoring the surface of the item to create a visible difference. Out of the two, engraving is less susceptible to being scratched or worn.

Laser engravings are created by using a high-heat laser that vaporises the material surface. This is why laser engraving is so effective across a multitude of surfaces.

A laser is a coherent light that is concentrated through an amplification process to create a beam. Lasers are used in many industries for a multitude of reasons and for every use there is a different type of laser. Engraving lasers are designed to create an intense heat that can be controlled and adjusted.

There are many benefits to using lasers in the engraving process:

  • A reduced risk of human error
  • A consistent end product
  • Quick and highly efficient
  • Superb level of precision

Laser engraving depth can vary between 0.05cm  in metals to 0.3cm in harder materials. While many people think engraving is reserved for metals, laser engraving can also be used for  plastics, wood, leather, glass and acrylic.

If you have an item that you would like personalised but are unsure if it is suitable for engraving, contact the friendly team at Clayfield Jewellery. Our experienced team will be able to guide you through the process and achieve the best outcome for you.

Fantastic service! I took a ring in to be laser engraved with a family crest, Trevor was happy to run multiple tests for me before doing anything to the actual ring so we could be sure it was perfect and I was happy with it. It turned better than I could have imagined. Thank you!!
